allen + roth™ Stainless Steel Sink Care and Maintenance

  1. allen + roth™ stainless steel sinks are made from the highest quality 18-gauge 304 series alloy stainless steel, with 8/10 chrome-nickel content. allen + roth™ stainless steel sinks are extremely durable, rust-free, and most importantly hygienic.
For General Care & Cleaning:
  1. After each use, rinse thoroughly. To minimize mineral deposits or water spotting, wipe the sink dry with a clean, soft cloth.
  2. Avoid any abrasive cleaners such as steel wool or scrub pads, as this will dull the finish.
  3. Avoid having household cleaning agents such as bleach sit in the sink, as this may damage the finish.
  4. Stainless steel does not rust; however, use of appropriate stainless steel sink cleaning agents is recommended for removing various surface residues.
  5. Scratches are normal in any sink material. With regards to stainless steel, most minor scratches can be softened with Soft Scrub®, a Scotch Brite™ pad, and deep cleaning agents such as Comet. Rub across the entire surface and rinse thoroughly.
Additional Cleaning
  1. Different contaminants such as dirt, dust, and soil will vary greatly in the effect, appearance, corrosive probability and ease of removal. While some may be easily removed, others may require specific cleaners for effective removal. Frequently warm water with or without a gentle detergent is sufficient. Next in line are mild non-scratching abrasive powders such as typical household cleaners including: Bar Keepers Friend®, Flitz®, Gordon’s Miracle Shine® and Shiny Sinks Plus®. All of these products are available at most grocery and hardware stores and it is recommended to follow the cleaning instructions on the product.
  2. Do not use abrasive cleaners to clean your allen + roth™ stainless steel sink. Items such as steel brushes, steel wool and scrub pads will tarnish the finish and make the sink look dull. These items should be avoided as they may leave particles imbedded on the surface which can lead to rusting.
  3. Do not let household cleaning products such as bleach sit in your sink for a long period of time as it will damage the finish of your sink.
Scratches
  1. For minor scratches, combining a wet Scotch Brite™ pad with a cleansing agent such as Flitz® will soften the appearance of scratches and disparities. Please rub the agent with the “grain” of the existing finish and continue to rub across the sink’s entire surface. Rubbing against the grain or in one spot will produce poor results. Once the rubbing process in completed, the sink should be rinsed with clean water and towel dried.
Surface Stains and Rust
  1. Surface residue such as hard water stains, tarnish, rust and lime deposits should be treated with any of the following cleaning products:
    1. Bar Keepers Friend®
    2. Gordon’s Miracle Shine®
    3. Flitz®

Please follow each cleaning agents directions. Once clean, you should wipe off excess water with a dry towel.

What is allen + roth™ quartz?

Quartz is one of the hardest components of natural granite. Quartz rates seven out of 10 on Moh's Scale of Hardness. The only materials harder are diamonds, sapphires and topaz. The quartz crystals are used to create a beautiful and strong surface that is highly scratch and impact resistant.

What are the advantages of allen + roth™ quartz?

A high-performing surface, allen + roth™ quartz is nonporous preventing unwelcome germs, bacteria and mildew. It does not require sealing, conditioning or polishing. allen + roth™ quartz is also scratch and stain resistant unlike alternative surface options such as granite, tile and marble.

What allen + roth™ quartz products are available?

allen + roth™ quartz comes in stone slabs that vary in thickness. Each slab is fabricated into a variety of design applications. allen + roth™ quartz is available in 2CM (3/4”) and 3CM (1 1/8”) thickness. Please check for availability in your market.

How do I care for my allen + roth™ quartz surface?

Simply clean up any spills with soap and water. For routine cleaning, use a small amount of cleaner that is non-bleach and nonabrasive along with warm water and a damp cloth. Repeat as needed to keep the lustrous gloss and radiant sheen. Although allen + roth™ quartz is resistant to stains, any type of spill should be cleaned as soon as possible. Any liquid spills, fruits, vegetables, or other foods should be wiped up and cleaned with soap and water.

Is allen+ roth™ quartz scratch resistant?

Because allen + roth™ contains approximately 93% quartz, the hardest components of natural granite, the surface is highly scratch and impact resistant. However, as with any surface, sudden impact, excessive force/pressure, or misuse can damage the stone surface.

Can you cut directly on the allen + roth™ quartz surface?

Although allen + roth™ is made of more than 93% natural quartz crystals that are up to six times harder than granite, it is always recommended to use a cutting board to prevent any dulling of the surface.

Can hot plates and pans be placed directly on the allen + roth™ quartz surface?

While allen + roth™ quartz can withstand heat, we still recommend the use of hot pads or trivets when using cooking units such as electric frying pans, crock-pots, roaster ovens or in place of hot pans directly onto the surface to avoid potentially damaging temperatures. Prolonged exposure to heat will damage your allen + roth™ quartz surface, and such damage is not covered by warranty.

Is allen + roth™ quartz color consistent?

allen + roth™ quartz is made from pure, natural quartz. Variation in quartz, color, shape, shade, pattern and size are unique traits of allen + roth™ quartz. Although some quartz colors may be more consistent than granite, color variance is an inherent trait expected of allen + roth™ quartz. In addition, small blotches or random distribution of particulates are an inherent part of overall design and composition and are not considered to be defects or product non-conformity. The Lifetime Limited Warranty does not cover color variance, and allen + roth™ quartz will not be replaced for these unique, inherent traits.

Will my allen + roth™ quartz have seams?

allen + roth™ quartz is not a seamless product; seams are generally visible. Inspection for color coordination across seams and multiple pieces is strongly recommended. The exact number of seams in a countertop will depend on the shape of the countertop and whether or not you specifically request fewer or no seams. Seam placement is at the discretion of the fabricator. Please note that requests for fewer or no seams will increase the square footage units that must be purchased, thereby increasing the price. Our allen + roth™ fabricator installer can show you where seams will be placed on your countertop.

Will the small sample piece I have match my countertop once it’s installed?

Variance in color, shade and pattern is an inherent trait expected of the quartz product. Samples of allen + roth™ quartz are often shown in 4"x4" or 4”x8” sample sizes. These samples are cut from large allen + roth™ slabs and only represent a limited portion of the actual stone. Please refer to samples only as a general indication of a particular color's design pattern, aesthetics, and hue. Samples are not guaranteed to be an exact replica of allen + roth™ slabs and may vary from the actual, installed product.

Will dark colors require more maintenance?

All dark colors of any quartz material require more maintenance. Under ordinary use darker colors will show dirt, dust, rubs, fingerprints, and watermarks more readily than lighter colors patterns. Naturally these colors require more care to maintain their appearance.

Will allen+roth™ quartz have lamination lines?

If you select a 1 ½” edge, then lamination lines will be visible. A lamination line is created when two pieces of allen + roth™ quartz are seamed together to create a 1 ½” front edge.

What does my allen + roth™ Limited Lifetime Warranty cover?

Sage Surfaces warrants to the original purchaser/owner in the U.S. Canada that its allen + roth™ quartz product shall be free from manufacturing defects in material under normal use and service. Sage Surfaces, at its discretion, will repair or replace product failures only due to manufacturing defects. The allen + roth™ Limited Lifetime Warranty exclusions include, but are not limited to, failure to comply with Sage Surfaces recommended storage, handling, usage, supports, cutouts, and care and maintenance guidelines. Fabrication or installation error, damaged caused by improper use or abuse including, but not limited to, damage from accidents, abuse of impact, chemical damage, acts of nature, job-site conditions, or structural movement. Please review the Sage allen + roth™ Limited Lifetime Warranty, in its entirety, for a complete list of warranty exclusions.

                            Routine Cleaning

                            1. allen + roth™ quartz surface countertops are easy to maintain. It is a non-porous material that is highly resistant to stain, scratches and heat. However, it is not stain, scratch, or heat proof. By following the recommended care and maintenance it will help ensure your quartz surface remains beautiful for many years.
                            2. Simply clean with soap and water on a regular basis to keep the lustrous gloss and radiant sheen. Use warm water and a damp cloth with a small amount of non-abrasive cleaner that does not contain bleach.
                            3. Although allen + roth™ quartz is resistant to stains, spills should be cleaned as soon as possible. Liquid spills and stains from fruits, vegetables, or other foods should be wiped up and cleaned with soap and water.

                            Preventing Damages

                            1. Heat – allen + roth™ quartz is designed to be resistant to heat and can withstand exposure to normal cooking environments for brief periods of time without being damaged. Although allen + roth™ quartz withstands heat better than most surfacing materials on the market, all surfacing materials, including stone, can be damaged by extreme temperature changes, whether prolonged or sudden. Please use trivets and hot pads when placing hot skillets, pans, crock-pots or other heat generating kitchenware on the surface.

                            2. Scratches – although allen + roth™ quartz is resistant to scratches, cuts, and chipping, cutting directly on the quartz surface should be avoided. Using cutting boards and taking care not to drop or move heavy objects on the surface will help to ensure long-lasting beauty.

                            3. Chemical – Avoid exposing allen + roth™ quartz to any strong chemicals and solvents. It is important to note that some of these chemicals and solvents can be found in household items like paint removers, paint and stain strippers that contain trichlorethane or methylene chloride, nail polish removers, bleach, furniture cleaners, oil soaps, permanent markers or inks, and chemicals with high alkaline/PH levels (oven cleaners, drain openers, etc.). Avoid using cleaning products that contain oils, powders or abrasives.

                            Chemicals to Avoid

The below list of chemicals should be avoided with allen + roth™ quartz surface countertops; however, the below list is not a complete list, and there may be other chemicals not listed here that may cause damage. The effect of any chemical usage on allen + roth™ quartz surface countertops is ultimately dependent on the type of chemical, the length of exposure, and the degree of concentration.

                            1. Oil soaps, bluing agents, dyes, stains, paint thinner or strippers.
                            2. Solvents such as acetone, nail polish, lacquer thinner, or bleach (short-term exposure is acceptable for purpose of cleaning difficult stains-based on removing and rinsing applied area within 5 minutes).
                            3. Chlorinated solvents such as trichloroethylene or methylene chloride
                            4. Benzene, toluene, methyl ethyl ketone
                            5. Concentrated acids such as hydrocyanic acid, hydrofluoric acid, hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, nitric acid.
                            6. Chemicals with high alkaline/PH levels (pH > 10)

If any of the substances listed above come into contact with allen + roth™ quartz, rinse with plenty of water and follow routine cleaning procedures immediately.

Although long-term or frequent exposure must be avoided at all times, the following products along with a non-abrasive cleaning pad may be used with short-term exposure (removing and rinsing immediately after application with water) to clean difficult stains or residues. Always handle such cleaning agents with care and rinse the applied surface with water completely afterwards.

Variation in quartz, color, shape, shade, pattern and size are unique traits of allen + roth™ quartz surface countertops. Color variance is an inherent trait expected of allen + roth™ quartz. In addition, small blotches or random distribution or particulates are an inherent part of overall design and composition and are not considered to be defects or product non-conformity. The 15-Year Limited Warranty does not cover color variance, and the allen + roth™ quartz surface countertop will not be replaced for these unique, inherent traits.
                                            • Supplemental repair including, but not limited to, electrical, tile or wall surfaces, backsplashes, cabinetry, freight, and plumbing modifications necessary to repair allen + roth™ products.
                                            • Product usage for commercial application(s) including, but not limited to, installation in store, office or other places of business.
                                            • Products in which the factory applied surface finish has been altered in any way.
                                            • Defects that were visible at the time of fabrication/installation and were not avoided during fabrication/installation.
                                            • Cracks caused by "dry" cutting, polishing, unevenness or improper edge details. Minimum requirements for fabrication and installation must be followed.

The professional fabricator/installer is responsible to inspect the allen + roth™ products before fabricating and/or installing the products. All parties must agree to comply with the terms and conditions outlined in this 15-Year Limited Warranty.

When choosing a color or finish, please refer to samples only as a general indication of a particular color's design pattern, aesthetics, hue and finish. Samples are not guaranteed to be an exact replica of allen + roth™ and may vary slightly from the actual, installed allen + roth™ product. If after, or during installation, you decide that you do not like the color you selected, replacement is not covered by this warranty.

No other warranties express or implied, are made, including merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. Except as provided herein, Sage is not liable in tort or contract for any loss or direct, incidental, or consequential damages as a result of the use or the inability to use allen + roth™ products. This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights, which vary from state to state, or in Canada, from province to province. Some states/provinces do not allow the exclusion or limitation of implied warranties or of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitation or exclusion may not apply to you.

Sage makes no other guarantee, representation, or warranty (express or implied) with respect to its products, except as expressly stated herein. No one other than Sage is authorized or permitted to make or provide any promise, representation or warranty with respect to allen + roth™ countertop products.
